The proposed IEEE 802.3cz standard has entered the IEEE 802.3 Standard Approval Ballot stage for final release. Join us on April 27, 2023 at 16:00 CET for the online presentation “New IEEE 802.3cz Standard: multi-gigabit links for automotive”, organized in collaboration with Secpho, an industry cluster that gathers more than 180 organizations promoting technological innovation through deep tech in all sectors of our economy.
We’ve gained great interest in our latest demonstration setup of automotive Ethernet over fiber optics we’ve shown recently at Automotive Ethernet Congress from in Munich, Germany, and together with Würth Elektronik at the Embedded World international trade show in Nuremburg, Germany. The KDPOF demo contained robust, EMC-safe, and low-cost in-vehicle high-speed links with connectors from leading suppliers like MD Elektronik and Yazaki.
KDPOF celebrates the advance of the proposed IEEE 802.3cz standard to the IEEE 802.3 Standard Approval Ballot stage.
“We are happy that the IEEE 802.3 automotive optical multi-gigabit standard draft has entered final review for publication,” stated Carlos Pardo, KDPOF CEO and active participant in the IEEE 802.3 working group. “We have started the development of prototypes, led by OEMs in Europe, Asia, and North America, for the proof-of-concept (POC) of optical 10GBASE-AU links for backbone, camera, radar sensor, and display use cases.” Read more
KDPOF proudly announced their technological cooperation with Würth Elektronik (one of the leading manufacturers of electronics and electromechanical components in Europe) to advance automotive multi-gigabit Ethernet over fiber optics.
“We are honoured to have Würth Elektronik as a partner for our next-generation optical high-speed connectivity reference designs in vehicles,” stated Carlos Pardo, CEO and Co-founder of KDPOF. “As the auto industry approaches the 100 Gb/s*m speed-length threshold, the move from copper to optical physical data transmission media is picking up speed.” Read more
KDPOF is proud that their EVB9351-SFP 1000BASE-RH Small Form-factor Pluggable transceiver module has been selected by the editors of Electronic Products as this year’s winner in the optoelectronics category. The annual awards, now in its 47th year, recognizes outstanding products that represent any of the following qualities: a significant advancement in a technology or its application, an exceptionally innovative design, a substantial achievement in price/performance, improvements in design performance and a potential for new product designs/opportunities.

The German electronics journal Elektronik by WEKA Publishing has chosen our new EVB9351-SFP as one of the finalists in the automotive category for product of 2023. “We’re happy that this first optical 1000BASE-RH Small Form-factor Pluggable transceiver module is nominated for product of the year 2023,” stated our CEO Carlos Pardo. “It integrates the whole 1000BASE-RHC PHY and the header connector for SI-POF optical harness. We’re proud to accomplish the first milestone for future commercial optical 1000BASE-RH SFP modules, which will integrate into the optical ecosystem in automotive.” Test houses welcome the SFP module for the valuation of optical gigabit Ethernet in vehicles. Until January 29, 2023, users are called to vote for their favorite electronics products.
At the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) in September 2022 in Basel, Switzerland, Dr. Joseph Pankert, VP Product Management at Trumpf Photonic Components, and Rubén Pérez-Aranda, CTO and Co-founder of KDPOF, presented “980nm VCSELs: New Standard in Automotive”. KDPOF is proud to have been part of the program at the continent’s largest event in the field and one of the most prestigious and traditional events on optical communications worldwide.
KDPOF joins forces with Keysight Technologies (leading technology company for advanced design and validation solutions) to advance optical multi-gigabit automotive Ethernet technology. At the IEEE SA Ethernet & IP @ Automotive Technology Day from November 9 to 10, 2022 in Yokohama, Japan, the two technology pioneers will present the first proof of concept demo for the optical automotive ethernet transmitter test including the Corning ClearCurve® multi-mode fibers.
At ECOC 2022 (European Conference on Optical Communication) Virtual Catch-up, César Esteban, Applications and Support Manager at KDPOF, presented innovations and optical fiber benefits in automotive and industrial markets. Following ECOC 2022 in Basel, Switzerland, the virtual catch-up was the perfect place to re-connect with visitors, exhibitors, customers and colleagues and to revisit sessions from Market Focus and Product Focus.
