The POF backbone connects IP devices such as Wi-Fi access points, Set Top Boxes or Gaming Consoles through non-visible in-wall optical cabling, bringing the benefits of a reliable wired backbone without the nuisance of visible wires. Applications such as Online Gaming or Video Streaming get their Quality of Experience (QoE) maximized.
Industrial environments represent a challenge for Ethernet networks, where EMI (electromagnetic interference) can be a concern, temperature range can be more extreme, and installation may be troublesome. POF provides an alternative to copper and glass optical fiber for these cases, and is complemented by KDPOF technology.
